Flyer for Black & White PrintersGail Borden Public Library hosted an area YouTube Favorite Books contest in 2007 that was very successful due to the library and the school district partnering on the project. It was all about making it convenient for students to enter sharing literary help and technical expertise to work with children. The school librarians asked the students and their parents if students would like to enter the contest. School librarians helped the students choose which book that they wanted to talk about. Parents signed a release. For students who didn't make their video at home, a library representative with technical abilities came to the school at a scheduled time and filmed many students over a period. There was also assistance for simple video editing. The editing project would also provide a nice partnership with a high school media class.
This was the format that worked for Gail Borden Public Library District last year. There are many ways to male it easier for students to enter. If you need any assistance, please email Denise Raleigh or call at (847) 429-5981.
